Uganda to host Africa-wide Ebola response coordination centre

KAMPALA — Health authorities have announced that Uganda will host an Africa-wide Ebola Response Coordination Centre, in partnership with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

The centre will coordinate cross-border surveillance, deployment of rapid response teams, laboratory networks and risk communication across the ten countries currently identified as at-risk in the region.

The Ministry of Health says the facility builds on Uganda's decades of experience managing viral hemorrhagic fever outbreaks and reinforces the country's leadership in regional health security.
