POSTA UGANDA LAUNCHES STRATEGIC PLAN, CLIENT CHARTER AND SERVICE DELIVERY STANDARDS

By Sarah Nanteza
Today, 4th August 2026, Posta Uganda has launched its Strategic Plan, Client Charter, and Service Delivery Standards at the Uganda Media Centre to improve service delivery, strengthen accountability, and reposition the institution as a key player in Uganda’s communication and logistics sector.
Speaking during the launch, the Chairperson of the Posta Uganda Board of Directors, Mr. Kirunda Sulaiman Balyejussa, said the new initiatives reflect the institution’s commitment to transforming its operations and responding more effectively to the needs of its clients.
“These initiatives demonstrate our resolve to modernize Posta Uganda and ensure we remain relevant, efficient, and customer-focused in a rapidly evolving service environment,” he said.
He added that Posta Uganda is determined to reclaim its position as a leading service provider, leveraging its nationwide infrastructure, government support, experienced workforce, and strong leadership.
“We are building on our strengths to reposition Posta Uganda as a trusted and competitive service provider across the country,” he noted.
The Chairperson commended management and the Board for developing the three documents through extensive consultations, benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement. He emphasized that the Strategic Plan, Client Charter, and Service Delivery Standards will guide daily operations across Posta Uganda’s more than 100 branches nationwide. “These frameworks will ensure consistency, accountability, and improved service delivery across all our branches,” he said.
He further encouraged the public to continue using Posta Uganda services and to provide feedback to support continuous improvement. The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, who officially launched the documents, said the initiative reflects government’s commitment to accountability and bringing services closer to citizens.
“This development is aligned with government’s broader agenda of improving efficiency, transparency, and access to public services,” she said.
She noted that the Service Delivery Standards clearly outline timelines for different services, enabling government and institutions to measure performance and enhance efficiency. “With clearly defined service timelines, we are strengthening accountability and ensuring citizens know what to expect,” the Minister added.
The Minister also revealed that Posta Uganda is working with the Ministry of Public Service and other government agencies to establish one-stop centres for government services at Posta Uganda offices.
The centres will bring together services from institutions including the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), among others.
“This integrated approach will significantly reduce the time and cost citizens incur when accessing government services,” she said. She added that the programme will be extended to sub-regional and district levels using Posta Uganda’s existing infrastructure, reducing the need for citizens to travel long distances to access services.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to bring services closer to the people and improve access for both Ugandans and non-Ugandans seeking public services.
